Summer Pleasures RULES q)r. @aniet Sherbert is pleased to announce the (limning from page 63 of lair practice at: a ..." See if you can fulfill the wish. If you discover a specialty shop your host loves or would love, send a gift certificate. One of my favorite gifts I've received was gift certificate and what a madcap spending spree I had! As a guest, you will love everything. You will love the view, you will love the children, you will love the poodle. You will find the bed comfortable, the food delicious and the schedule alto- gether suitable. The perfect guest immediately falls into the routine of the household instead of keeping different hours, like breakfast at ten when everyone else ate at seven. If you share a bath you should check to see who showers in the a.m. and who showers in the p.m. and plan your shower accordingly. You will not say, "Can you keep the chil- dren quiet while I take my afternoon nap." They cannot. While you can expect the host to make everything as agreeable as possible, where they fail, you do not complain. Jumping In As a guest, you jump in to pay for a share of the tabs. "You paid for last night's dinner, let me get this one," you say. When things go unexpectedly wrong, it's time to quit acting like an honored guest and pitch in and help out. Our son-in-law won our hearts when the wasps attacked— and did I mention that the pipe under the kitchen sink broke the same evening— by taking bug spray in hand first and the mop second. His deeds that evening endeared him to us more quickly than if he had just been the perfect guest on a perfect evening. Make your bed daily unless the household employs help. Before you leave, ask the host where to put the used linen. Leave your bath clean and neat. Naturally, you will express your appreciation for your host's hospitality as you leave. Even so, you must write a thank-you note soon, meaning the very next day. Why wait? If your visit was delightful, write while your delight is hot. If less than delightful, get it over with. Memorable experiences that you have had as a house guest will make your next occasion as a host even bet- ter. Happy visiting! ❑ WEST MAPLE PLASTIC SURGERY 5807 West Maple Road, Suite 177 West Bloomfield, MI 48322 Phone: (248) 865-0400 Fax: (248) 865-6404 Dr. Sherbert: BOARD CERTIFIED: AMERICAN BOARD OF SURGERY BOARD CERTIFIED: AMERICAN BOARD OF PLASTIC SURGERY FELLOWSHIP TRAINED: AESTHETIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE BREAST SURGERY Specializing In: Cosmetic Surgery, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery.
