He studied last summer at the Yale School of Drama, and is first chair- trumpet in the school band and orchestra: He is also a mem- ber of the Quill & Scroll Interna- tional Society of High School Journalists. He will attend Yale University and is interested in pursuing acting. Jaffa is senior class president, newspaper editor, co-captain of forensics and competed at state level. She is a member of Student Council, Student Senate and National Honor Society, as well as a Hugh O'Brian, March of the Living and Girls' State partici- pant. She won Farmington Youth Assistance and Principal's Leader- ship awards, and was an assistant teacher at Mat Shalom Syna- gogue. She will attend the Uni- versity of Michigan. Janower is a member of National Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa, and is summa cum laude. She played soccer and volleyball in high school and excels at piano. She is a member of Temple Shir Shalom. She received University of Michigan Regents-Alumni and Honorary Engineering scholar- ships and will attend U-M Col- lege of Engineering. Joseff is an honor student, mem- ber of Science Olympiad, Quiz Bowl, German Club and a past member of debate team. He par- ticipated in track and field. He volunteers with a special needs class at Temple Beth El. He par- ticipated in a Summer Scholar Program in medicine at the Uni- versity of Miami and has been granted an academic scholarship to attend the University of Miami. IAN KAMINSKY ALISSIA KASS ANNA KAYE BREE KESSLER Southfield-Lathrop Berkley Berkley North Farmington Kaye has won six National Scholastics Art awards and a Paint Creek scholarship for the arts. She is a member of National Honor Society, was awarded sec- ond place for an essay at the Lawrence Tech contest, and is Phi Beta Kappa. She was All- OAA (best in division) in first singles tennis for two consecutive years. She will attend Skidmore College. Kessler is regional treasurer of National Federation of Temple Youth, participated in March of the Living, and won Northwestern - University Junior Statesmen and National Youth Leadership awards. She participated in Jewish Youth Scholar, basketball, softball, Quiz Bowl and Science Olympiad, and was a madricha at Temple Emanu- El. She will attend the University of Michigan, University of Penn- sylvania or Wellesley College. Kaminsky is a member of National Honor Society, Scholars Plus, Phi Beta Kappa, and a National Merit commended stu- dent. He participated in march- ing, jazz, and symphonic bands. He is captain of varsity soccer, was on varsity swimming and baseball and was a scholar athlete in each sport. He volunteers at Providence Hospital. He will study pre-medicine at the Uni- versity of Michigan. 5/15 1998 96 Kass is executive editor of Patterns literary magazine. She won multi- ple awards in Lawrence Tech's writing contests and Michigan Youth Arts. She helped write Berkley Schools' Acceptable Use Policy for technology, and coordi- nated technology for the Berkley Holocaust Curriculum. She attended Technion's international summer research program and will attend the University of Michigan College of Engineering.
