These graduating seniors have earned top marks at Michigan high schools. KAREN ALKALAY NAOMI MINNA APT MEGAN BARRON West Bloomfield Beth Jacob Berkley Alkalay is Phi Beta Kappa. She actively participated in the B'nai B'rith Youth Organization and has tutored area children since middle school. She sings in the Seniority school choir and is a member of the Humanities Club. She will attend the University of Michigan and pursue a medical career. Apt served this year as head of her high school drama production. She is a volunteer for her school's Chessed Program. She is a Wayne State University Presidential Schol- ar and is the recipient of a Phi Beta Kappa award and a Michigan Competitive Scholarship. She plans to attend B'nos Chava Semi- nary in Jerusalem next year and will enter Wayne State University the following fall. Barron is president of the French Honor Society, a member of National Honor Society and a varsity soccer player. She has played soccer for four years and has been captain twice. She received a top level rating in a county level competition for a flute duet and is being honored as a scholar athlete. She will attend the University of Michi- gan. JESSICA BERG ANDREW BRATT ANNA BRESLAV Andover Harrison Harrison Berg is vice president of National Honor Society, volunteering at PATH and the Women's Survival Center. Forensics team captain, she won state trophies in poetry and oratory. She is active on the school newspaper and treasurer for the literary magazine. She won the Oakland Community College poetry contest and Detroit Free Press editorial contest. She is a National Merit commended stu- dent and will attend Northwestern University. Bratt is senior editor-in-chief of his high school newspaper, The Catalyst. He has been involved with the paper for two years. He has been on Harrison's honor roll for four years and has earned three academic letters. Bratt also was named,Harrison's first home- coming king. He is a member of Temple Shir Shalom. Bratt will attend the University of Michi- gan's College of Literature, Sci- ence and Arts. Breslav came to the United States in September 1997 from Riga, Latvia. Up to her senior year she was a member of the Jewish com- munity of Riga. She participated in Harrison's French and philoso- phy clubs. She has taken dance classes and is a member of B'nai B'rith Youth Organization.
