Flint Federation
Names Honorees
B'nai B'rith members will hold the
first annual meeting of B'nai B'rith
Great Lakes Region 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 20, at the Double-
Tree Guest Suites in Southfield.
Included on the agenda will be guest
speakers: B'nai B'rith Youth Organiza-
tion Director Arnold J. Weiner; Anti-
Defamation League of B'nai B'rith
Director, Donald Cohen; and Eastern
Michigan University Hillel Director,
Taryn Techman. Joining B'nai B'rith
will be Shari Katz, international BBG
n'siah (president) of BBYO.

The Flint Jewish Federation will
present the Donald Riegle Commu-
nity Service Award to Dr. Allen
Arnold, president Mott Community
College; Dr. Evelyn Golden, commu te
nity volunteer; and Michigan State
Rep. Vera B. Bison. They will be
honored at the ninth Annual
Riegle Award Dinner 5 p.m. Thurs-
day, May 28, at the Riverfront
Hotel.
Awardees are honored for their
display of exceptional commitment
in the area of community service.
This year's recipients have helped to
enhance the quality of life, preserve
and protect human dignity and con-
tribute to the improvement of the
welfare of the citizens of the Greater
Flint area.
Tickets are $125 per person or
$1,000 for a table of eight. Call Ash-

place. All proceeds aid in local Russ- c
ian resettlement and acculturation
efforts.
AJC Meeting
Has Israel Focus
"Israel at 50, A Time for Reflection...A
Time for Celebration!" will be the
focus of the Detroit Chapter of The
American Jewish Committee's 53rd
annual meeting to be held 6:15 p.m.
Monday, June 8, at Congregation
Beth Shalom.
The evening will begin with Israeli
music by a trio from the ABZ Orches-
tra and a dinner. The chapter will host
Arthur Berger, AJC's director of public
relations and communications, for-
merly a senior career officer with the
foreign service.
The evening's program will also
include the chapter's annual elections.
Individuals who have been nominated
to serve on the chapter's Executive
Committee for a one-year term
include the following officers: Freder-
ick J. Frank, president; Carol Dunitz
and Judith S. Owens, vice presidents;
Allen Olender, secretary; and Martin
S. Mayer, treasurer.
Newly nominated board members
for a three-year term are Dr. Allen
Berlin, Judge Susan Borman, Leon S.
Cohan, Marla Drutz, Robert D. Gor-
don, Michael Kraut, Jonathan E.
Levin, James S. Rosenfeld, Irene S.
Sobel and Joshua W. Yaker. In addi-
tion, Judith Greenstone Miller and
Michael Traison have agreed to serve a
two-year term and Martin Baum a
one-year term.
There is a charge for the dinner

Jewish Library
Association Meets
The Jewish Library Association of
Metropolitan Detroit will meet 1:30 ,
p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Temple
Beth El. A kosher deli lunch will be
served and the meeting will begin at
2 p.m. New members are welcome.

Our own community's rabbis will
sit as a panel to respond to questionsff\
and to the ideas presented by Joel
Grishaver and Daniel Gordis in the
first two parts of a series 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 27, at the Kahn
JCC.
