Elects Lockman

AJE Meeting
Hears Rabbi

Deena Lockman, who will be
installed as president of the Temple
Beth El Sisterhood, has served the
community both as a professional
and a volunteer. She is project
director with Anti-Defamation
League's A World of Difference
Institute. A Beth El member for
more than 20 years, she has worked
on numerous sisterhoOd events,
served as sisterhood youth liaison
and most recently
as its administra-
tive vice presi-
dent. Lockman is
also a life mem-
ber of Hadassah
and the National
Council of
Jewish Women,
Greater Detroit
Section.

vice presidents, Gail Mayer, adminis-
trative; Sylvia Buckfire and Lois
Freeman, gift shop; Fayclare Blau,
human relations/social action; JoAnn
Nyquist, membership; and Jo-Ann

treasurer; Sandra Moss, assistant
treasurer; Karen Hull, recording sec-
retary; Elisa Dreyfuss, corresponding

Dinner and installation 6 p.m.,
Thursday, at Temple Beth El, will
feature music by Daniel Radinsky.

of directors will be voted upon at the
organization's annual meeting to be held
7:30 p.m. Tuesday,
June 2, at Congre-

Zedek. Rabbi Irv-
ing (Yitz) Green-
berg, president of
Jewish Life Net-
work and found-
ing president of
Rabbi Greenberg
CLAL - the
National Jewish
Center for Learning and Leadership,
will present the keynote address,
"Rethinking Jewish Education for the
21st Century."
Nominated as a vice-president is
Arthur Horwitz, and as an officer on
the executive committee is Trudy Weiss.
Nominated for a three-year term as at-
large directors are Linda Brodsky, Paula
Glazier and Joseph Greenberg. Nomi-
nated for a one-year term as an at-large
director is Sy Finkelstein. Nominated
for a two-year term as representative
directors are Irene Beck, Jan Frank, Jane
Hauser, Esther Sherizan and Andy Weil.

Hebrew Talk
On Workers

Doron Laks, an international marketing
consultant, will be the guest speaker at
the monthly Mifgash program for
Hebrew speakers 11:30 a.m. Sunday,
May 17, at AJE, sponsored by the
Agency for Jewish Education's Midrasha,
Center for Adult Jewish Studies. Laks
will present, in Hebrew, "To Employ or
Not to Employ:
The Dilemma of
Foreign Workers
in Israel."
Laks was born
in Israel and
moved to Detroit
in 1988 with his
family. He holds a
Doro n Laks
degree in business
and international
marketing, coupled with 25 years of
experience in international marketing
and trade between Israel and the United
States.
