Aaron Frank has enjoyed more highs than lows in coaching lacrosse. MIKE ROSENBAUM Special to the Jewish News t first glance, lacrosse looks like a bone- crunching, physical sport. "That's always the first impression," says Aaron Frank. "The interesting thing is, if you see the higher level of the game, you see how it really is more a finesse game." Likewise, if you attend a Birmingham high school lacrosse game, you'll see Frank as the team's lacrosse coach, but he considers coaching to be a small part of the job. "One of the things I really enjoy is helping develop the young men in our program from all the different aspects," he explains. "There are some things that I can talk to them about, where they may feel uncomfortable going to a teacher or a parent." His team, a unified squad consisting of players from Seaholm and Groves high schools, has enjoyed solid success on the field. Birmingham was the state Class A runner-up last season. In the previous five seasons Birmingham reached the state semifinals four times and the quarterfinals once. This year's team is rebuilding and got off to a slow start, but is now ranked fifth in the state. Frank, in his ninth year on the job, hopes the team will improve as the season goes on and be
