For Godzilla fans, Simitar

tures digitally remastered wide-screen

Godzilla eats up movie screens next
week (the film opens in Detroit on
Wednesday, May 20), fans of Japan's
biggest movie will want more of the
gray-green monster.
Lucky for them there are two bud-
get-priced Godzilla box sets covering
his illustrious, if devastating, career.
Godzilla was the brainchild of
Japanese producer Tomoyuki Tanaka,
who turned a cautionary tale of
nuclear foolhardiness into a series of
box-office sensations.
In its native Japan, "Godzilla" was
"Gojira," a monster from the deep,
awoken by hydrogen bomb tests in
the South Pacific. Angry
at being woken from his
slumber, Gojira wreaked
havoc on downtown
Tokyo. The film was
released in 1954 and fea-
