Although Aaron-Taylor can remem-
ber always trying her hand at art pro-
jects, she didn't consider turning her
talents into a career until she attended
Wayne State University and decided
she would teach.
After working in a high school for
two years, she quit to earn a master's
degree in fine arts from the Cranbrook
Academy of Art. While still a student,
she learned of an opening at CCS and
got the job, which has lasted for 24
years.
In the hours she is not working
with students, Aaron-Taylor advances
her personal artistic talents and sub-
mits her works to many galleries.
Besides appearing throughout
Michigan, her sculptural works have
been shown in the Midwest and as far

"I never was an abstract artist, but
I've always been interested in sym-
bols," Aaron-Taylor said. "As my work
progresses, it becomes less and less
detailed. I'm trying to find out what's
going on in my psyche and connect it
to humanity on a bigger scale."
Aaron-Taylor wants her viewers to
know that tarot cards are not like for-
tune telling.
"You bring your experiences and
situation to the card reading, and then
there's sort of a broad picture," she
explained. "It's not, 'You will marry a
tall, dark, handsome stranger,' which
is kind of pokey. You really have to
work with them. They're more broad
and archetypal."

"It's very easy not to connect with

Her son, whose bar mitzvah was
celebrated two years ago at the
Birmingham Temple, has appeared
throughout her work. One important
series captured what she defined as
Hebrew goddesses.

"The Fool's Journey" will be on dis-
play 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-
Thursdays and 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
