admits that he will probably never be
the leading man type, and he is quick
to praise all of the many actors and
actresses he has worked with over the
years. It's no wonder that so many
people in the industry call Kind a
good friend.
In fact, George Clooney, one of
Kind's closest pals, proved what their
friendship means to him. "My dad
passed away last July, and while I was
giving my dad's eulogy at the temple, I
looked up and saw a friend of mine,"
he recalls.
"I thought, 'Wasn't it nice that
he came down from New York.' Then
I looked down and saw another
friend. Then I looked again and
noticed a whole row of friends, and

right in the middle was George.
George had arranged a plane — he
had access to the Warner Bros. jet —
and flew about eight or nine guys out
for the funeral.
"It may not the best place to sur-
prise somebody, but it worked. It was
a tremendous effort by George and a
long way to come for a funeral. My
hats off to all of them, especially
George."
In the meantime, Kind seems quite
content with his life. He has a girl-
friend living in California, where he
still owns a home, and is able to fly to
the West Coast every three or four
weeks and when "Spin City" is on hia-
tus.
And no matter where he is, Kind
said that his Judaism is a part of him.
"Although I don't go to temple on a
regular basis, I have never missed a
Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur ser-
vice. I am very proud of being
Jewish."
When asked if there is anything else
he would like to do, he paused a
minute and laughed. "Many, many
things," he chuckles, while opening up
a can of soda.
"More dramas, more movies, more
stage. I never turn down a role. I sup-
pose it's a detriment to my career that
I am not very choosy. But, hey, I just
love to act and want to keep on doing
it." ❑
