Alana Debra Canvasser will be called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Sat-
urday, May 9, at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
Alana is the
daughter of Marci
and Charles Can-
vasser and the sis-
ter of Kayla
Nicole.
Proud grand-
parents are Natal-
ie and Donald
Canvasser, Geral-
dine Margolis and the late Dr. Jerry
G. Margolis. Alana is the great-grand-
daughter of Fay Margolis.
Alana is an honor student at
Abbott Middle School, where she is in
the Stages Program. She enjoys danc-
ing, acting and skiing.
Her most meaningful mitzvah pro-
ject was working at a rummage sale
for Northwest Child Rescue Women
to aid the developmentally disabled.
Michael Disner
Michael Brian Disner will become a
bar mitzvah on Saturday, May 9, at
Temple Israel. He is the son of Karen
and David Disner, brother of
Jonathan and grandchild of Ethel and
Hyman Disner
and Anita and
Daniel Natow.
Among his
mitzvah projects
was planting trees
at a park in the
Detroit empower-
ment zone; he
also sold T-shirts
at the dream
cruise to benefit
the Boys and Girls Club of America.
Attending Birmingham Covington
School, Michael enjoys most sports,
especially baseball, basketball and
football.
Harry Mayers
Harry Mayers will celebrate his bar
mitzvah on Friday, May 8, at Temple
Emanu-El. Harry is the son of Denise
and Ralph Mayers, brother of Mandy
and grandson to
the late Harry
and Betty Mayers
of Oak Park and
Sunrise, Fla.
Harry is a sev-
enth-grade stu-
dent at Orchard
Lake Middle
School in West
Bloomfield. Harry loves music, sports
and animals. For his mitzvah project,
Harry and his dog participated in the
Pet-A-Pet program at the West Bloom-
field Convalescent Center. Harry also
volunteered his time working on the
trick-or-treat trails for the West Bloom-
field Parks and Recreation Department.
Brian Rosenbaum
Brian Howard Rosenbaum will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, May 9, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He is
the son of Barry
and Linda Rosen-
baum and the
brother of Neil
Rosenbaum.
Proud grandpar-
ents are Charlotte
and Irving Rosen-
baum. Brian is
also the grandson
of the late Evelyn and Norton Rosin.
Brian is an honor student at Warn-
er Middle School and is in the acceler-
ated Hebrew class at Adat Shalom.
Brian enjoys playing basketball and
golf, and he plays the coronet in the
school band. Brian's most meaningful
mitzvah project was meeting with resi-
dents of JARC.
Stephanie Sherline
Stephanie Renee Sherline will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, May 9, at Temple Shir
Shalom. She is the
daughter of Tova
and Rick Sherline
and the sister of
David. Proud
grandparents are
Herman and
Betty Sherline and
Morris and Fanny
Tama. Stephanie
is also the grand-
daughter of the late Elka Tama.
Stephanie attends Abbott Middle
School where she is an honor student.
Her favorite subject is performing arts.
She also enjoys playing the french
horn, trumpet, piano and electric gui-
tar.
Stephanie's most meaningful mitz-
vah project was volunteering at the
Fleischman Residence.
