Tributes and Memorials available.

Na'amat USA, Greater Detroit Coun-
cil will hold its annual Spiritual Adop-
tion Luncheon noon Thursday, June
11, at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
The luncheon, on behalf of Israel's
special needs children, will be dedicat-
ed to the memory of Chavera Reness
Shuster. Entertainment will be by the
Verdi Opera Co.
There is a charge for the luncheon.

Shabbat Study
For Women

The Women's Shabbat Study Group of
the Sarah Tugman Bais Chabad Torah
Center Sisterhood will be hosted by
Laurel Fink and Phyllis Meer 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 9, at the home of Lau-
rel Fink, 6623 Heatherheath, in honor
of Shelley Eizelman.
Chaya Sara Silberberg will speak on
Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers).
Light refreshments will be served, and
all women are invited to join.

Healthy Living
Conference

The Friends of Akiva Hebrew Day
School, the Akiva PTA and the
Detroit Medical Center will host
"Especially for Women," a conference
about healthy living, from 9 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10, at DMC
Lahser Campus, 27211 Lahser.
The cost is $5 and includes a kosher
continental breakfast. To register, call

be available from Akiva teen students.

nn Arbor's Temple Beth
Emeth, led by Rabbi Robert
Levy, held a Yom HaShoah
Evening of the Arts on April

26.
Highlights of the commemorative
event ranged from visual displays,
music and readings to a potluck din-
ner featuring family recipes and
recipes compiled by food historian
Maureen Bernard from the pre-war
period.
The evening's theme, "A Culture
Lost," represented the period of the

Shoah and the culture of the pre-war
European Jewish community.
Displays included a diptych, Fall of
the Wall, by David Shubow; Lo
Tiskach, a mixed-media piece by Leslie
Maloff; 6,000,0001, a series of litho-
graphs by Moshe Hoffman; and ren-
derings and photographs of costume
designs by Edith Bookstein. Eva Tay-
lor provided an exhibit of artifacts
from her family from the war years.
Guests were able to work on the
Thousand Stars project, an original
origami project that will eventually be
