The United Jewish Foundation will
hold its 99th annual meeting 4 p.m.
Thursday, June 11, at Temple Shir
Shalom.
The meeting
will include an
address by Lee C.
Bollinger, presi-
dent of the Uni-
versity of Michi-
gan, election and
installation of
UJF officers and
board members, a Lee Bollinger
report by Presi-
dent Robert Slatkin, the presentation
of the council of Jewish Federations'
Endowment Achievement Award to
Norman A. Pappas and recognition of
new endowment donors.
Nominated as UJF officers are: Mr.
Slatkin, president; Susan Citrin, Mark
R. Hauser, Oscar H. Feldman, Don-
ald M. Lansky and Jane Sherman,
vice presidents; Stacey A. Crane, trea-
surer; and Robert P. Aronson, secre-
tary.
Nominated to the UJF board as at-
large members are: Professor Harvey
Bronstein, Gerald S. Cook, Julie A.
Cummings, Sharon Hart and Susan
Pappas.
A reception will follow the meet-
ing. There is a $15 charge per person.
Reservation deadline is June 4.

Panel Discusses
Diversity

The Jewish Federation of Metropoli-
tan Detroit will sponsor a panel dis-
cussion, "Diversity in Philanthropy-
exploring Successful Fund Raising in
a Diverse Community," 8:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 14, at the Charles H.
Wright Museum of African American
History.
Coordinated by the Greater
Detroit Chapter of the National Soci-
ety of Fund-raising Executives, the
program will cover historical and cul-
tural perspectives on giving in differ-
ent communities; identify successful
strategies; and provide opportunities
for exchanging information.
Joseph Imberman, director of the
Federated Endowment Fund, will rep-
resent Federation on the panel. Other

panelists include: Oliver Ragsdale,
advisory council chair, African Ameri-
can Legacy Program, Community
Foundation for Southeastern Michi-
gan; Maha Freij, fiscal officer,
ACCESS; Jeffrey Montgomery, inter-
im executive director, the Triangle
Foundation; Armando Rivas Jr., exec-
utive director, La Sed; Glenn Kossick,
executive director, Metro Health
Foundation; and Carol Kerr, presi-
dent, Greater Detroit Chapter of
NSFRE.
•Following continental breakfast
and the discussion, guests will have a
tour of the museum.
Admission fee is $30 for members,
$40 for non-members. Advance reser-
vations are required by Monday, May

Hechtman
Activities

Hechtman Federation Apartments
will have its second annual car wash
9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, May 17.
Seniors and B'nai B'rith youth will
help run,this event. Monies raised will
be used for resident programs and
activities. The price of the car wash is
$3 per car. For information, call the
Hechtman office, (248) 661-5220.
Hechtman will celebrate Israel's
50th birthday 2 p.m. Sunday, May
17, at 6690 West Maple, West
Bloomfield. The celebration will be a
concert featuring Cantor Stephen
Dubov with accompanist Zena
Shaykhet. Refreshments will be
served. There is no charge for this
event.

Family Support
From JARC

JARC's Keshet Family Support Pro-
gram will present an informational
evening for families on "Oakland
County Community Mental Health
Services for Children" 7 p.m. Mon-
day, May 11, at JARC. Representa-
tives from CMH will discuss various
funding for children with special
needs, as well as other available ser-
vices.

Keshet Family Support Program is a
part of JARC's Children and Family
Division. It provides support to fami-
lies who have a child with any type of
special need.
