Parenting Series
At Hillel
Discussion Set
On Havdalah
Eilu v' Eilu, the joint adult Jewish
learning project, will offer an adult
study series titled "How Good is
`Good Enough?' A Jewish Look
at Parenting." The series will be
taught by Rabbi Aaron and Ruth
Bergman 7-8 p.m. three consecutive
Wednesday nights, at Hillel Day
School.
Session dates and topics are as fol-
lows: May 6, "Can I Be A Good Par-
ent, A Good Spouse And Still Be
Me?"; May 13, "Raising A Mentsch:
How To Create A Moral Child"; and
May 20, "From Dr. Spock to Dr.
Ruth: How To Talk To Your Child
About Difficult Issues."
Tuition is $21 for the series
($15 for Eilu v' Eilu members) or
$7 per session ($5 for Eilu v' Eilu
members). Each session will be
self-contained and can be attended
independently of the others. Advance
registration is encouraged but
students also may register at the
door.

Rabbi Rod Glogower's current semester-
long adult study series will conclude
with a two-part examination of the the-
ology and liturgy of Havdalah and its
relationship to the evening service that
marks the end of Shabbat each week.
The study sessions will be held
10:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday, May 5 and
Tuesday, May 12, in the Janice
Charach Epstein Museum Gallery at
the Kahn JCC in West Bloomfield.
There is a charge: $10 per session for
members of the JCC and B'nai
Moshe, $12 per session for others.
The series is designed for interme-
diate-to-advanced adult learners.
Some familiarity with Talmud and
the ability to follow a text in the
original Hebrew or Aramaic is help-
ful, but not-required. All study mate-
rials are translated into English by
Rabbi Glogower.

the next lecture of its JudaiCollege
educational session 7:15 p.m. Tues-

As part of the JudaiCollege spring
semester, Machon L'Torah will hold
the next class of its crash course in
basic Hebrew 7:30 p.m. Wednesday,
May 6, at the JPM JCC. Jeff Perl-
stein will lead this series. Reserva-

Presentation of a plaque in tribute to the late Leonard Simons was made to
Wayne State University President Irvin Reid at the dedication of the Leonard N
Simons Jewish Community Archives at the Reuther Library of Labor and Urban
Affairs. With Dr. Reid are Dr. Philip 1? Mason, distinguished professor of histo-
ry at WSU; Joel Jacob, chair of the Jewish Community Archives; and Mary Lou
Zieve, daughter of Mr. Simons.

Events Community Task Force will
sponsor Israel's 50th Anniversary
Celebration 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3,
at Congregation Beth Israel, 5240
Calkins Road, Flint.
The festivities start with a 1.8
mile Chai (life) Walk for Israel. Fol-
lowing the walk, participants will be
able to purchase Israeli delicacies for
dinner at Congregation Beth Israel.
Then at 7 p.m., Esta, an Israeli
instrumental band, will give a free
concert performance.
