CONGREGATIONS
WORLDWIDE

SALUTE ISRAEL ON

50 YEARS OF STATEHOOD

As we mark the historic milestone of the 50th anniversary of the State of Israel, syn-
agogues throughout the world will join together in a powerful moment of unity in
celebration of Israel.
On Shabbat, 29 Nisan (April 24-25) congregations will conclude their services by
standing to sing Hatikva and recite the Shehecheyanu blessing. Hundreds of thou-
sands of Jews throughout the world — Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and
Reconstructionist — will join together in a single act of celebration ; a wave of unity
that wil start with Jewish communities in Australia and the Far East, and pass
through Europe to the Americas.
This ceremony, initiated by the American Zionist Movement, reminds us of the
essence of Zionism — that Jews the world over are one people, joined by a common
history, heritage and destiny, and that Israel is central to our identity as a people.

Join us in this celebration of Israel and the Jewish People.

This program is being implemented in coordination with AMIT Women, ARZA — Association
of Reform Zionists of America, Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, MERCAZ, USA,
Rabbinical Assembly, Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association, Religious Zionists of America,
The New York Board of Rabbis, Union of American Hebrew Congregations, and United
Synagbgue of Conservative Judaism.
