Beit Kodesh
Sisterhood Meets

The Congregation Beit Kodesh Sister-
hood will meet 7:30 p.m. Tuesday,
April 28, at the synagogue.
A slate for election of officers will
\be presented as well as nominations
/from the floor. Following the election
there will be bingo playing and
refreshments.

Morgenthau JWI
Installation

Henry Morgenthau Chapter, Jewish
Women International will host its
I 52nd annual installation luncheon at
noon on Wednesday, April 29, at the
Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Officers to be installed are: president,
Barbara Goldsmith; vice president, Joyce
Rabb; fund-raising, Lillian Meyers; pro-
gramming, Ruth Blackman; member-
ship, Frances Kaczander; communica-
tions, Elsie Rodd; treasurer, Helen Faye;
,financial secretary, Shirley Scheinker;
recording secretary, Ceil Cohn; corre-
sponding secretaries, Betty Barsky, Ber-
nice Ziskind and Jackie Posner.
The installing officer will be Char-
lotte Shebowich, a past president. The
chairman is Ruth Blackman.

(Varied Calendar

Jewish Experiences for Families and
the Jewish Community Center in Oak
Park will host a free journey through
Israel 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 26.
The Jewish Community Center
and the Detroit Medical Center
(DMC) will offer Healthy Living — a
\series of health and wellness programs
Sunday, April 26, and Sunday, May 3,
from 1-2:30 p.m. There will be a baby
massage program. Children from new-
born through one year are encouraged
to attend. For information, call the

8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through

A Rosh Chodesh lecture series for
>women supported by Machon L'Torah
and Young Israel of Oak Park will be
held at the Jimmy Prentis Morris
building 10:15 to 11:30 a.m. Devorah
is the topic that Aliza Sosne, a teacher
at Wayne State University, will discuss
on Monday, April 27. Bayla
Jacobowitz, a Jewish studies educator,
will share information about Ruth on

Dancers will present a special program
commemorating Israel Independence

Six easy steps to basic Judaism with
Rabbi Abraham Jacobowitz of
Machon L'Torah will be discussed
7:30-8:45 p.m. April 28, May 5, 12,
19, 26 and June 2. There is a charge.
Learn to decode the Hebrew alpha-
bet with Yosef Perlstein of Machon
L'Torah. The six-week course will be
held 7:30-9 p.m. April 29, May 6, 13,
20 and 26. There is a charge.

Holocaust
Memorial Service

Congregation Shir Tikvah will hold a
Holocaust memorial service 7:45 p.m.
Friday, May 1, in memory of the 6 mil-
lion Jews who perished in Europe dur-
ing World War II.
Aneka Burke will give a talk on her
experiences as a child whose family hid
Jews during World War II. Congrega-
tion Shir Tikvah will hold the service at
3900 Northfield Parkway, just south of
Wattles, in Troy.
