Concert Tribute
Features Stars

The Stars of David, an international
support, social, and educational
group for Jewish adoptive families,
will host Rabbi Daniel Nevins of
Adat Shalom Synagogue discussing
"Conversion and Beyond: Issues in
Jewish Adoptive Families" 7 p.m.
Tuesday, April 28, at the Applebaum
Parenting Center in West Bloom-
field.
There is no charge for this pro-
gram, which is open to adoptive par-
ents of any age child, prospective
adoptive parents, grandparents and
extended family members, and inter-
ested professionals.

Two veteran stars of Broadway and
film will team up at 7:15 p.m. on
Sunday, May 17, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue in a musical tribute to
Israel's half-century birthday. The
concert will feature Theodore Bikel
and Jon Voight.
Theodore Bikel was 13 years old
when he and his parents left Austria
for Palestine in 1937. His career has
been illuminated by outstanding
stage and screen portrayals for more
than 50 years.
Jon Voight made entertainment
headlines in 1969 when he earned -
his first Academy Award nomination
and numerous other awards for
his perfor-
mance in
Midnight
Cowboy. In
addition, he
also is known
for his
humanitarian
efforts on
behalf of the
homeless, the
Vietnam vet-
Theodore Bikel
erans, Native
Americans,
and the
Chabad Chil-
dren of Cher-
nobyl project.
General
admission
tickets are free
to the com-
munity on a
first-come,
first-served

basis. They
may be picked up at the synagogue
office during regular business hours.
There will be a limited reserved sec-
tion for Chai Concertgoers at $18
per person. Chai tickets include a
reserved seat and admission to an
afterglow, where guests will have
the opportunity to meet the per-
formers.

a check for $18 per person to

picked up the evening of the perfor-
mance.

Yom HaShoah

A Yom HaShoah Evening of the arts
will be held in Ann Arbor 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 26, at Temple Beth
Emeth.
The evening will begin with a
potluck dinner. Visual displays will
be available for browsing during that
time.
At 6:30 p.m. there will be a per-
formance which will include music
and readings. The program will be
opened with a multimedia display by
Howard Morris.

Performers of all ages are needed for
the choir and/or dance troupe who
will perform at the JCC Maccabi
Games Opening Ceremonies on °
Aug. 16 at the Palace of Auburn
Hills.
Workshops/auditions will be held
7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 7, and
Monday, May 11, at the Kahn Jew-
ish Community Center in West
Bloomfield. Performers should have
some dancing and/or singing back-
ground.
Workshop attendance is mandato-
ry to sign-up for this event. For
