The U.S. Blades Tigers celebrate their
league win.

Capping off an amazing recovery
from a one-win season in 1997, the
Tigers, playing out of U.S. Blades in
West Bloomfield, captured the facili-
ty's house league championship for
ages 8-9.
Scott Felsenfeld and Ryan Palter
scored goals in the shootout, while
goalie Brett Malbin helped shut
down the previously undefeated Pen-
guins in the championship game.

Skills Event

The Oak Park Recreation Depart-
ment is hosting the Diamond Skills
Competition on May 30 at Shepherd
Park.
The competition is open to boys
and girls ages 7 to 14, and gives
them an opportunity to show off
their baseball skills in . hitting, field-
ing, throwing and base-running.
The event is free, but interested
athletes must register at the Oak
Park Community Center. For more
