DIA ART NEWS
The Detroit Institute of Arts 18th-
century French galleries reopened last
month following a year-long renova-
tion. More than 200 paintings, sculp-
tures and decorative objects are dis-
played from about 1700 to 1820. The
renovation made possible the first per-
manent installation of the DIA's
world-renowned Firestone silver col-
lection. The DIA celebrated
the opening with a reception.
Some of the patrons included
A. Alfred Taubman, chair-
man of the Detroit Arts
Commission, and Stanley
and Margaret Winkelman.
