In the age of managed care, an otherwise middle-class family can find themselves fac-
ing bankruptcy when emergency medical procedures are not covered by insurance.
With nowhere else to turn, they turn to JFS. Through the Medical Care Emergency
Fund, Jewish Family service assists people beset by unmanageable medical bills.

AID FOR HOUSING EXPENSES

During the first three months of this year, JFS saw a 300% increase in requests for
emergency aid for housing. Funds provide emergency rent and utility payments.
