10, at the syna-
gogue.
The title of Dr.
Wisse's presenta-
tion will be "Teyva Ruth Wisse
the Dairyman:
The First Jewish Stand-Up Comedian."
Professor of Yiddish and Comparative
Literature at Harvard University, Dr.
Wisse is the author and editor of
numerous articles and books on I.L.
Peretz and Sholem Aleichem.
The free lecture is sponsored in part
through the Morris and Beverly Baker
foundation in memory of Morris D.
Baker, and is open to the public.

Plans Weekend

The Sholem Aleichem Institute will
hold its annual Tamarack weekend at
the Butzel Conference Center in
Ortonville May 1-3.
This year's scholar-lecturer will be
Dr. Kenneth Libo, the co-author with
Irving Howe of World of our Fathers.
He will deliver three lectures on the
Jews of the South, the Jews of the
West, and Life on the Lower East Side
in New York. On Friday night there
will be an Oneg Shabbat.
