Hillel Honors
The Shermans

Hillel Day School will honor Jane
and Larry Sherman, and will present
past Hillel president Saul Waldman
with the Rabbi Jacob Segal Award at
the annual dinner and silent auction
6 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek. The
community is invited. Entertainment
will be by Mel Ball and Colours.
Dinner tickets are $150 per person.
Jane and Larry Sherman are long-
time supporters of Hillel and Jewish
education. They will celebrate this
spring with granddaughter Jessica
Sherman, as she becomes the first
member of the family to graduate
from Hillel. The Shermans are
involved with many international,
national and local organizations
including: the Jewish Agency for
Israel, The American-Jewish Joint
Distribution Committee, United
Jewish Appeal, Council of Jewish
Federations, the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, the United
Jewish Foundation.
Saul Waldman is a member of the
original Founders Committee for
Hillel Day School. Mr. Waldman is
also a past president of the school,
Building Committee co-chairman
and largely responsible for the devel-
opment of the original building on
Middlebelt Road.
All proceeds will go directly to
educational programs and the learn-
ing environment; portions will be
allocated to the scholarship fund.
