held its 34th anniversary banquet,
chaired by Rosa Chessler and Elaine
Sabbota. The honorary chairman of
the event was Phillip Stollman and
the honorary dinner chairs were Mr.
and Mrs. David Campbell, Mr. and
Mrs. Morris Flatt, Mrs. Hannah Kar-
bal, Dr. and Mrs. Richard Krugel,
Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence Loewenthal,
Dr. and Mrs. Jay Novetsky and Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Sherizen.
In addition to guest speaker Ezekiel
Leiken, the evening featured a perfor-
mance by the Gealya Mitchell - Kol
Haneshama Youth Choir and a special
presentation by Rabbi Steven Weil to
Phyllis and Ithamar Koenigsberg.
The Koenigsbergs received the Corn-
munity Chesed Award and are now
living in Israel. Mrs. Koenigsberg was
a former Akiva kindergarten teacher.

FRIENDS' BALL
More than 700 guests recently
attended Providence Hospital's
"Friends' Ball" at the Ritz-Carlton.
The event raised more than $270,000
to benefit the Providence Cancer Care
Campaign. The festivities included a
silent auction, raffle, dinner and danc-
ing. Dr. Jeffrey Zaks, of Farmington
Hills, chairman of the department of
medicine at Providence, presented Dr.
Neil Basmaji with the Cadeuceus
Society Physician of the Year Award.

Birmingham presents "Boomers Plus
Lifestyle Expo" on Saturday, April 18,
and Sunday, April 19, at the South-
field Civic Center Pavilion. The two-
day expo will be filled with educa-
tional events and activities to make
