WEDDING PLANNED FOR

ro
ulp Fiction may not be a
very romantic movie, but it
did bring Robin Sherr and
Danny Davids together.
Sherr, a West Bloomfield native,
and Davids, of London, met at the
1994 Cannes Film Festival where both
were promoting Quentin Tarantino's
violent blockbusterkit. She had flown
in from Los Angeles, he from
England, and the business relationship
lasted less than a week.
"We knew each other for five days
in Cannes, but we couldn't go out
because we were both working 20
hours a day," recalled Sherr, now a
senior publicist for Twentieth Century
Fox Studios in California. "So we just
talked a lot."
The talking a lot continued, often
as much as three times a day, even
after the two returned to their respec-
tive corners of the world. Four years
and countless sky-high phone bills
later, they are getting married.
About a year ago, Sherr and Davids
— who had each been dating other
people — decided phone calls just
weren't enough. They arranged a visit
at a halfway point, New York City.
"From then on we decided we'd
commit to each other and meet every
month," said Sherr. "Every month we
met halfway, at different places. On
the eighth month, he came to
Michigan to meet my family and on
the ninth month, I went to London to
meet his family. Then he proposed."
Davids, who is an attorney by
training, got a job transfer to Los
Angeles, where he works as a develop-
ment executive at Walt Disney
Studios. Because of their Tinseltown
jobs, both field regular calls from big-
name celebrities, such as John
Travolta, Meg Ryan and Denzel
Washington.
But, stargazers, don't get too excit-
ed. The August wedding at Adat
Shalom Synagogue will attract an
international crowd of the couple's
many relatives, but no Hollywood
celebrities have made the invite list.
As for the honeymoon, the two
plan to return to Cannes. This time
around, they'll have more than five
days together. O
