Haute Kosher

Combining good taste with good intentions
is a winner for Paul Kohn and four local charities.

ANNABEL COHEN
Special to The Jewish News

local kosher caterer is prov-
ing that when you're haute,
you're haute — especially
when it's for a good cause.
On March 22, more than 100
party-goers attended the first of the
three-part fund-raising series, "A Taste
of Quality," which showcased the hors
d'oeuvres of Southfield caterer Paul
Kohn and his company, Quality
Kosher Catering. The second part of
the series, Entrees, will be held on
Thursday, April 23, and the last event,
Desserts, on Monday, May 4.
Kohn, with the help of family and
catering director Patti Paternie,
dreamed up "A Taste of Quality" as an
opportunity to "give back to the corn-

munity." Guests designate
their donations to Yad
Ezra, the kosher food
bank, Congregation
Shaarey Zedek -
Religious School,
Akiva Hebrew
Day School or
Hillel Day
School. Each
portion of the
series costs $45
or $120 for all
three. Checks,
made out to the
charities themselves,
are 100 percent
deductible.
"I'm supportive of any
Jewish education," said Kohn,
"and Yad Ezra — it's appropriate that

we support a kosher food
bank. It has a nice
roundness to it. I don't--/
think anything like
this has been done
before."
Cooking for a
cause also allows
Kohn to showcase
his company's tal-
ents by providing
the community
— starving for J\
good kosher food
