in the military with a Jewish soldier,
and a third where the Mann family,
escaping Nazi Germany, comes to
live nearby.
The latter episode was called
"The Ceremony," and it first aired
Nov. 9, 1972. It was the story of
Professor Mann, his wife Eva and
their son, Paul. Fearful they will face
the kind of hatred they left behind
in Nazi-occupied Europe, the
Manns at first try to hide their Jew-
ishness.
Then it becomes time for Paul's
bar mitzvah. In the end, it is
Grandpa Walton who helps settle
everything, and the bar-mitzvah
ceremony is held in the Walton
home.
Noah Keen, who lives in Califor-
nia, was selected to star as Profes-
sor Mann. It was one of two Jewish
roles the actor, who is himself Jew-
ish, would play. (The other was in a
TV special. Interestingly, another
Keen role included appearing as a
member of the SS during a tour
