At the Southfield Fbvilion

"I find this production very excit-
ing because there's a real mix of peo-
ple," Larry Miller said. "Our youngest
actress is Avivah Thomas, 8, and
among our seniors is Jeanette
Auslander. There's a whole range in
between, and we even have five teen-
agers."
Miller has encouraged community
theater veterans to join the group and
points out that there also are people
who have never worked on a produc-
tion before but wowed everyone at the
auditions.
Randy Topper, a Wayne State
University drama student and
Bonstelle Theatre performer, is among
those with experience. Lucy Simons
agreed to join the cast as a first-timer.
Those on the production team
thought she'd be right for the show.
"When we called to ask Lucy to join
us, it was 9 p.m.," said Miller. "She
arrived at the temple at 9:30 and went
right to work."

The musical
features a cast of
34 and a 12-
piece orchestra.

The group is taking advantage of
in-house talent as well. "There's a
scene in the play that has a cantor
singing at a wedding, and we asked
our own cantor, Harold Orbach, to
take that - role," remarked Miller.
Also appearing are Suzi Wiener as
Barbara, Phil's (Larry Miller) daughter,
and Jerry Weiner as David, Barbara's
husband.
Miller, who went to Israel a second
time on a mission with Rabbi Loss,
considers Milk and Honey a nice way
for young people to get a taste of live
theater and of Israel as well.
"We have to get through this pro-
duction before we decide what the
next one will be, but there will be a
next one," Miller said. "The Temple
Players will be an integral part of tem-
ple activities."
