Your Lucky Day

Though most people will tell you they
put no stock in fortune tellers, they
still love to hear what the future holds.
Serve guests a fortune cookie at the
end of the meal, or make your own
cake and place fortune-telling charms
inside before the dough is completely
cooked.
Visit your favorite craft store for
charms, then you make up the for-
tune. (Tiny scissors, for example, will
mean, "You'll soon be cutting out a
bad habit.") Serve each guest a piece,
then read the fortune when he finds
his charm.

Tea For Two

Little girls, and grown-up ladies, will
be charmed if you invite them for tea.
You can serve cookies and biscuits
from the store, and fresh fruit.
The fun is in the teas: buy six dif-
ferent kinds that you've always wanted
to try. You'll find all kinds of interest-
ing and exotic brands at health-food
and international shops. Plan this for
a small crowd and you can make the
afternoon especially delightful by pro-
viding each guest with her own tea
cup to keep.
You can find old, beautiful tea cups
for a song at flea markets and discount
shops; the more diverse their look, the
more beautiful your table will be.
Provide guests with honey, sugar,
sliced lemon, mint and jelly to add
extra flavor to their drinks.

Flower Power

Here's a great alternative to the fresh
flowers usually on a host's
table (nice, but kind of pricey, and
they'Ee dead in a few days).
Buy several packets of seeds and
some soil at your favorite garden shop.
Several weeks before the party
(depending, of course, on what you
will grow), plant the seeds — one for
each person, or for each family. You
can find all kinds of beautiful, inex-
pensive containers at those ubiquitous,
dollar stores.
Try to have herbs or flowers just
starting to bloom the day guests are to
