Katie Surnow
Katie Ruth Surnow will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitvah on Saturday,
March 14, at Temple Israel. She is the
daughter of Sherry

Surnow, sister of
Adam and Han-
nah and grand-
child of Pearl
Surnow and Mari-
lyn Surnow Other
grandparents are
the late Jack
Surnow and the
late Ruth and
Hyman Band.
She asssited at the Holocust Memo-
rial Center among her mitzvah pro-
jects. Attending Berkshire Middle
School, Katie likes softball and water-
skiing.

Sarah Elkins
Sarah Margaret Elkins observed her
bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on Fri-
day, March 6. She is the daughter of
Nancy and
Michael Elkins
and grandchild of
Evelyn Elkins and
Kenneth Singer.
She is also the
granddaughter of
the late Nathan
Elkins and the
late Marvel
Singer.
Mitvah projects included volunteer-
ing at Temple Israel's Labor Day Picnic,
assisting with younger children during
the High Holy Day services and work-
ing at First Step Domestic Shelter.
An honor student at Abbott Middle
School, Sarah enjoys horseback riding,
skiing, dance, theater, choir and play-
ing the saxophone.

William Deitch
Bill Deitch celebrated his bar mitzvah
at Temple Beth El
on Saturday,
March 7. He is
the son of Penny
and Laurence
Deitch and the
brother of Sarah
and Leslie Deitch.
His proud grand-
parents are Edith

and Sidney Deitch and Gertrude and
Milton Lambert.
As part of his ongoing mitzvah pro
ject, he is working with the Beth El
Beautifiers, Think Twice, and the
Motor City Blight Busters rebuilding
a home in Detroit.
He attends Cranbrook/Kingswood
Middle School. His hobbies include
golf and basketball.

Lindsay Gross
Lindsay Erin Gross will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah at Adat Shalom
Synagogue on Saturday, March 14. She
is the daughter of Suzie Gross and Alan
Gross and sister to
Jessica. Proud are
grandmother
Magda Losonci
and grandparents
Elizabeth and
Standford Gross.
Lindsay is also the
granddaughter of
the late Leslie
Losonci.
Lindsay is an honor student at
Dunckel Middle School where she
enjoys playing the violin. She also loves
dancing, reading and swimming. Lind-
say volunteers at Yad Ezra and also gives
her time to special needs children on a
weekly basis.

Alyse Solomon
Alyse Elizabeth Solomon will become a
bat mitzvah on Friday, March 13, at
Temple Shir Shalom. She is the daugh-
ter of Norman and Ellen Solomon and
sister of Smart Solomon. She is the
granddaughter of David and Rochelle
Solomon and
Calvin and Mil-
dred Shubow.
Alyse is an
honor student at
O.E. Dunckel
Middle School
where her favorite
subjects are science
and social studies.
Her hobbies
include dancing, AOL, track and field
and basketball.
Alyse has volunteered at Yad Ezra
and has learned how it feels to help oth-
ers.

Siegel
Benjamin Robert Siegel will become a
bar mitavah on Saturday, March 14, at
Temple gol Ami. He is the son of
Sharon and David Siegel and brother of
Joshua. His grandparents are Joyce and
Jack Cohen and Naomi and Sidney

interests include
playing guitar and
writing. Ben's mitzvah projects included
building a sukkah at a JARC residence,
cleaning nature preserves and visiting
senior citizens at a retriement home.
