Dinner, Concert
Adat Shalom Synagogue has planned
"an instrumental journey from Europe
to America" for 5:30 p.m. Sunday,
March 22, at the synagogue. The family
dinner and concert, for adults and chil-
dren of all ages, will feature the Chica-
go's Maxwell Street Klezmer Band.
Social Club
Plays WhirlyBall
The Adat Shalom Social Club will
host an evening of whirlyball for sin-
gles and couples 8 p.m. Saturday,
April 4, at WhirlyBall West in West
Bloomfield.
Snacks and soft drinks will be pro-
vided. There is an $18 per person
charge for Adat Shalom members and
a $20 fee for non-synagogue mem-
bers.

Yiddish Group
Slates Meeting
The Yiddish Conversation Group will
meet 10:30 a.m.-noon Monday, April
6, at Hadassah House, 5030 Orchard
Lake Road, West Bloomfield, under
the leadership of Rochelle Sable.
The group will meet every Monday
for eight weeks. The charge is .$25.

Jewish Music
Lecture Slated
"Ha-Shirim asher 1'Shlomo of
Salomone Rossi: Jewish Ceremonial
Music in Early 17th Century Mantua"
will be the topic of a lecthre 3 p.m.
Thursday, March 26, sponsored by the
Cohn-Haddow Center for Judaic Stud-
ies at Wayne State University.
Professor Emeritus Martin M. Her-
man, Department of Humanities,
WSU, will speak at McGregor Memori-
al Conference Center. Professor Her-
man is a musicologist and has served as
a musical consultant and coordinator
for a television documentary based on a
French exhibition.

Beth El Hosts
Jazz Shabbat
Returning for the second 'annual Tem-
ple Beth El Jazz Shabbat 8 p.m. Fri-
day, March 27, will be the New
Orleans Klezmer All-Stars. The group
will share the bimah with Beth El's
own New Orleans import, Cantor
Stephen Dubov, and the members of
the Temple Beth El Adult Choir in a
service that combines the traditional
music of klezmer with new world jazz
and blues.
The Jazz Shabbat is being under-
written by the Babs and Herbert

Mitzvah Hosts
Mahj Tourney
Mitzvah Hadassah will have a mah
jongg tournament 7 p.m. Thursday,
March 26, at Hadassah House.
