ropolitan Detroit will present "The Jew-
ish Secrets To Self Improvement." The
April edition will feature "How To Win
An Argument" 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April
7, at the D. Dan and Betty Kahn build-
ing in West Bloomfield with Rabbi
Shumel Irons.

Symposium
On Israel

The Frankel Center for Judaic Studies
at U-M will present "Israel at 50: Acad-
emic Reflections and Analyses, A Sym-
posium," 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 29,
at the Michigan League in Ann Arbor.
The symposium will feature Professors
Todd Endelman (history), Zvi Gitlel-
man (political science), Raymond Tan-
ter (political science) and Ph.D. candi-
date Deborah Starr (Near Eastern stud-
ies and comparative literature).
Dr. Endelman will discuss the ques-
tion, "Does Israel Have a Post-Zionist
Future?" Dr. Tamer will discuss Israel's
foreign policy and role in the interna-
tional arena and Dr. Gitelman will
address the question of whether Israel
can be both a Jewish and a democratic
state. Ms. Starr will examine cultural
interactions among Jews and Arabs in
Israel.

SZ Productions
March Program

Shaarey Zedek Productions will present
in March a celebration of Jewish Music
Month and Jewish Heritage Month.
The telecast has an interview with
David Broza, well known Israeli enter-
tainer. Mark Felsenfeld, member of the
Shaarey Zedek professional choir, and
Rachael Kay, fifth-grade student at the
Shaarey Zedek religious school, sing;
and Mr. Felsenfeld discusses his profes-
sional and musical career.
On the second part of the program,
Ann Barnett is interviewed about Jew-
ish Heritage Month. She mentions the
many Jews who have distinguished
themselves in the arts and sciences, and
the exhibits to be seen in many of the
Jewish institutions around this area.

Eilu v' Eilu
Pesach Classes

Ruth Bergman, community educator,
will teach two adult study series on
Passover themes to help adult learners
gear up for the holiday.
The classes are sponsored by Eilu
Eilu and will be held on Wednesday
nights at Hillel Day School, 32200
Middlebelt Road, Farmington Hills,
and are open to the community. No
knowledge of Hebrew is required.
Advance registration is strongly encour-
aged.
On March 18 and 25 and April 1,
from 7 to 8 p.m., Ms. Bergman will
lead a three-part text study series titled
"How To Look Like a Genius at Your
Seder," presenting Passover-related
material from the midrash to enhance
the quality of discussion at students'
seder tables. Tuition is $5 per session or
$15 for the series for members of the

sponsoring organizations. For others,
the tuition is $7 per session or $21 for
the series. Students are welcome to reg-
ister for one, two, or all three sessions.
The second series for adults is titled
"A Jewish Look at Life, Liberty, and the
Pursuit of Happiness." Sessions will
meet at Hillel Day School on March 18
and 25, from 8 to 9 p.m. This series
will explore the apparent paradox of
calling ourselves "free" while also being
"servants of God." The tuition is $10
for the series or $5 per session for
members; $14 for the series or $7 per
session for others. Students may register
for either or both sessions.

Family Law
Seminar Set

The Michigan Trial Lawyers Associa-
tion will hold a family law seminar to
be moderated by Troy attorney Sandor
M. Gelman 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday,
March 26, at the DoubleTree Hotel,
located at 27000 Sheraton, Novi.
Gelman will open the seminar with
a discussion of the use of
mediation/arbitration in the family
court. Following, there will be discus-
sions regarding practical experience (the
good and the bad) with the Macomb,
Oakland and Wayne County Family
Courts. Mark Sherbow, referee of the
Oakland County Friend of the Court,
will discuss the Oakland County Fami-
ly Court along with other speakers
from Macomb and Wayne County
Family Courts.

Italian American Bar Association of
Michigan and B'nai B'rith Barristers
