Emily Anne Cohen will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
March 7, at

Shaarey Zedek.
She is the daugh-
ter of Pamela and
Donald Cohen
and the grand-
child of Irene and
Sol Alpiner and
the late Barbara
and Erwin Cohen.
An O.E. Dunckel student, Emily
enjoys acting, singing, writing, playing
violin and piano, and reading. Mitzvah
projects included working as a volun-
teer with the Daniel Sobel Friendship
Circle and babysitting during Shabbat
services. Emily also will be donating
baskets of toys to the Friendship Circle.

Bar/Bat Mitzvahs

Sara Rich
Sara Rich will be called to the Torah to
celebrate her bat mitzvah at Temple
Shir Shalom on Friday, February 27.
She is the daugh-
ter of Joyce
Golden and
Ronald Rich and
the sister of
Lauren Rich.
Proud grandpar-
ents are Eleanor
and Ken Zuppke
and Ruth Rich.
Sara is a stu-
dent at Abbott Middle School and
attends Temple Shir Shalom religious
school. Sara enjoys soccer, piano and
clarinet. For her mitzvah project, she
worked at Yad Ezra and was a weekly
religious school aid.

Sari Adelson
Sari Laina Adelson will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
March 7, at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek.
Sari is the
daughter of Faye
and Steven
Adelson, and she
is the sister of
Ivan.
Grandparents
Janet and Bernard
Adelson and
Sookie and
Norman Ordower will join Sari on this
special occasion. Sari also is the grand-
daughter of the late Ivan Edelstein.
Assisting with the Beth Hayeled

Summer Day Camp and volunteer-
ing her time for the Myasthenia
Gravis Association were two of her
mitzvah projects.
Sari is an honor student at Warner
Middle School. She enjoys dance,
Music and the arts. Sari also is a mem-
ber of the JCC Marlins Swim Team.

Joey Golden
Joey Golden will be called to the Torah
as a bar mitzvah at Congregation Shir
Tikvah on Friday,
March 6. He is the
son of Sandy and
Ted Golden;
brother of Amy,
Steve, David,
Allan, and Melissa;
grandson of
Dolores and
Maury Bloch, and
Evelyn and the late
H. Maxwell Golden; great-grandson of
Yetta Mednick.
As an act of humanity, Joey is a
volunteer at the Heartland Health
Care Center-Georgian Bloomfield,
where he assists the residents in their
weekly bingo games and talking with
the residents.
Joey is a student at the Roeper
School, where he participates on the
soccer and basketball teams. He also
loves computers.

Joseph Abrin
Joseph Benjamin Abrin of Oak Park
will be a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
March 7, at Congregation Beth
Achim. Rabbi
Herbert
Yoskowitz and
Cantor Max
Shimansky will
lead the services.
Participating
in the service will
be parents Ilene
and Marty Abrin,
siblings Sara
Michelle and Rebecca Julie. Kvelling
grandparents are Mary and Allan
Silverman of Southfield and Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla., and Gertrude Abrin
of Oak Park. Joey also is the grand-
son of the late Joseph M. Abrin.
Joey is an honor student at Norup
Middle School in Oak Park. Some of
his interests are basketball, baseball,
computers and going to Camp
Tamarack. He has chosen to donate a
percentage of his first gifts to three
charities in honor of his bar mitzvah;
the Jewish National Fund, to replace
lost trees in Israel; the Federation
