Stacy is an honor student at Berk-
shire Middle School. She plays violin
in the school orchestra and enjoys
skiing, softball and dance.
Stacy's mitzvah, projects included
volunteering at Yad Ezra and assist-
ing at Shaarey Zedek's Hebrew
school.
Benjamin Shayne
Benjamin Edward Shayne will
observe his bar mitzvah at Congrega-
tion B'nai Moshe
on Saturday, Feb.
28. Benjamin is
the son of Ruth
and Joel Shayne,
brother of Dori-
na Shayne,
grandson of
Naomi and Den-
nis Bahcall,
Sheila and Ken-
neth Shayne, and
great-grandson of Rita and Lewis
Marks.
Benjamin is a volunteer madrich
in the Congregation B'nai Moshe
LIFE program and is a student at
Steppingstone. His hobbies include
basketball, dancing, golf, swimming,
tennis, track and video games. Ben-
jamin is a member of BBYO and will
attend Camp Young Judaea in Wau-
paca, Wis. this summer.
Hope Silverstein
Hope Elizabeth Silverstein will cele-
brate her bat mitzvah at Temple
Israel on Saturday, Feb. 28. She is
the daughter of
Sheila and Steven
Silverstein and
sister of Erica
and Evan. Proud
grandparents are
Doris and Julian
Koss and Milli-
cent Silverstein
and the late
Hyman Silverstein.
Her most meaningful mitzvah
project was assisting in a preschool
class. Attending Abbott Middle
School, Hope is interested in travel-
ing, acting and camp.
Benjamin Shapiro
Benjamin Jeffrey Shapiro will cele-
brate his bar
mitzvah on Sat-
urday, Feb. 28, at
Temple Israel. He
is the son of Terri
and Fredric Ross-
man and David
and Susan
Shapiro, sister of
Lindsey and
grandson of Lois
and Bert
Loewenstein and Phyllis and Harvey
Shapiro. Proud great-grandmother is
Regina Shapiro.
He assisted in the Temple Israel
office and volunteered at the Fleis-
chman Residence as part of his mitz-
vah projects. A student at Warner
Middle School, Ben is a computer
fanatic and enjoys video games,
music and plays the bass clarinet.
Matthew Satovsky
Matthew Eric Satovsky will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Fri-
day, Feb. 27, at Temple Israel. He is
the son of Rhonda and Steven
Satovsky, brother
of Jennifer, Brett
and Nicole.
Proud grandpar-
ents are Betty
and Marvin
Adell, Phyllis and
Stanley Satovsky
and Connie and
David Sklar.
Mitzvah pro-
jects included assisting with younger
children during the High Holy Day
services and with the Phoebe Foun-
dation blood drive. Attending West
Hills Middle School, Matthew enjoys
all sports, especially snow-and water-
skiing, hockey and soccer.
Ella Zarkh
lla Gena Zarkh will observe her bat
mitzvah at Temple Israel on Friday,
Feb. 27. She is the daughter of Inna
Zarkh and Gene Zarkh, sister of
Zhanna and grandchild of Anna
Kuks and Tsilia Weisberg and the
late Boris Kuks and the late Samuel
Zarkh.
Assisting at a shelter for abused
women and chil-
dren was her
most meaningful
mitzvah project.
A Hillel student,
Ella's hobbies
include dance,
tennis and cross-
country running.
Rachel Pulleyblank
Rachel Lynn Pulleyblank will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Temple
Emanu-El. Rachel is the daughter of
Linda and Mark Pulleyblank, sister
of Curtis and Eric, and granddaugh-
ter of Mrs. Madolyn Rosenthal and
Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Pulley-
blank. Rachel
also is the grand-
daughter of the
late Dr. Marvin
J. Rosenthal.
With Rachel as
leader of the con-
gregation, her-
family will par-
ticipate in her
service.
Rachel has had several mitzvah
projects, including the Junior
Emanu-El Teen Society's Mitzvah
Day, park clean-ups, senior citizen
visitations, fund-raisers, trail survey-
ing and trail guide illustrating. Her
centerpieces have a tzedakah theme
and are to be donated to troubled
children.
Rachel is a seventh-grade honor
student at Derby Middle School in
Birmingham. She plays trombone in
the school band. She has been a Girl
Scout since kindergarten and in the
Ski Club since first grade. Rachel
also enjoys hockey, swimming, read-
ing, dancing and art
