Bar/Bat Mitzvahs Marissa Lowen Marissa Erin Lowen will become a bat mitzvah on Friday, Feb. 27, and Satur- day, Feb. 28. Marissa will help conduct the Shabbat service Friday evening at Temple Kol Ami and on Shabbat morning at Tem- ple Beth El. A student at Dunkel Middle School, where she plays the violin in the orchestra, Marissa enjoys reading, writing poet- ry, art and music. For her mitzvah projects, she helped prepare lunch for Habitat for Humanity, collected canned goods for shelters, collected and distributed coats for the needy and made quilts for AIDS babies. Marissa also has given donations to 13 humanitarian organizations in honor of her bat mitzvah. Marissa is the daughter of Karen and Alan Lowen, the sister of Scott and Aaron and the granddaughter of Evelyn Lowen and the late Seymour Lowen and the late Irving and Mar- garet Siporin.
