The Jewish Community Center in Oak
Park will host the Yiddish/Jewish Film
Festival 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1.
This month Schmuel Dzigan's classic
Yiddish comedy featuring singer Chava
Alberstein will be shown in Jaffe Hall.
There is no charge and everyone is wel-
come.
The Yiddish Culture Club will meet
1 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Jew-
ish Community Center of Oak Park.
A Thursday morning group is open
to anyone interested in subjects that
help seniors in their everyday lives;

10:30 a.m. at the Jewish Community
Center in Oak Park.
The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center will accept all
small household objects to resell at a
flea market in the near future. Money
from the sale will be contributed to the
Developmentally Disabled at the Jew-
ish Community Center and JARC
(Jewish Association for Residential

Temple Archivist
Addresses Seniors

Rabbi
Heidi Christein, archivist of
Leo M. Franklin Archive at Temple
Beth El, will tell "Family Stories from
the Archive" when she addresses the
Temple's Beth Elders noon Tuesday,
March 17, at the temple.
In residence at the archive since Feb-
ruary, 1997, Christein was previously
affiliated with the Walter P Reuther
Library of Labor and Urban Affairs at
Wayne State University. The archive is
open to the community for informa-
tion and research daily, 9 a.m. to 5
p.m.
Cost of the March 17 luncheon is
$8 for members and $9 for guests.
Deadline for reservations is Thursday,

Young At Heart
Purim Program

Young at Heart, Congregation Beth
Achim's Senior Group, will hold a
Purim program at noon Thursday,

Michigan Region B'nai B'rith Youth

Young Leadership Conclave Feb. 27

Junior, Senior
NCSY Plans

There will be a junior NCSY event for
grades 5-8 11:30 a.m. Sunday, March
1. They will meet at the AJE on 12
Mile Road to go to the Fridge, a
tobogganing run. Transportation will
be by bus. Cost is $12. They will
return to the AJE at about 4:30 p.m.

Senior NCSY Israeli Culture club
will meet at lunch at Southfield-Lath-
rup Senior High school every other
Tuesday and at Berkley High School
every other Wednesday.
There will be a spring senior
regional convention in Pittsburgh, Pa.,
on March 19-22. Cost is $85, includ-
ing transportation. Apply by March 5
and take off $10. For information,

In honor of the Nagano Winter Olympic Games, Akiva Day School hosted
Japanese AmericanMrs. Fusako Anishi who explained the basics of Japanese
culture to the lower school children. Mrs. Anishi also read a Japanese folk tale
and presented traditional Japanese clothing to students. In the picture, Mrs.
Anishi is surrounded by third-graders Simcha Visnaw, kimono-clad Ahuva Blu-
menfeld and Dena Cohen.
