Host Reception

The first annual reception of Detroit
Friends of Yeshivat Sha'alvim will be
held 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at
the home of Elana and Max Berlin.
The guest speaker will be Rabbi
Jonathan Rosenblatt of the Riverdale
Jewish Center in New York. Repre-
senting the yeshiva will be Rabbi
Mallen Galinsky, dean, and Men-
achem Bar-Shalom, director of
development. Dr. David Ungar, an
alumnus of Sha'alvim, will be master
of ceremonies. A video will be
shown.

Yiddish Culture
Series Continues

"Raisins, Almonds and Daisies: A
Celebration of Yiddish Culture," an
eight-part Latte & Learning adult
study series led by Rabbi Aaron
Bergman at Borders Books and
Music, 30995 Orchard Lake Road,
Farmington Hills, will continue to
meet on Monday mornings from 10-
11 a.m.
The series is presented by Eilu v'
Eilu, the metro Detroit cooperative
adult Jewish learning partnership
sponsored by Congregations Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses, Beth Shalom,
B'nai Moshe, Hillel Day School and
Michigan Branch-Women's League
for Conservative Judaism. Upcoming
session dates are: March 2, 9, 16, 23,
30, and April 6. Tuition is $5 per
session for members of the sponsor-
ing organizations; $7 per session for
others. The series highlights the dis-
tinction between Yiddish language
and Yiddish culture. No knowledge
of Yiddish is required.

aged, but walk-ins will be accommo-

Hear Klezmers

Congregation Shaarey Zedek Seniors
will host this year's Erwin and Bess
Kornwise Special Program 2 p.m.
Sunday, March 8. Featured will be
the Klezmer Fusion Band, under the
direction of Dr. Neil Alexander.
Admission is free.
