A $2,500 cash award will be given to the winning student who can select from the following outstanding univer- sities for his or her study: Bar-Ilan, Haifa, Tel Aviv, Ben-Gurion or Hebrew University. To qualify, the applicant must be a resident of the Metropolitan Detroit area, currently attending a college or university in the United States and must have applied to a school of high- er learning in Israel. Slated for April 18-28, 1999, the mission will begin in Tel Aviv, where mission goers will land in time for the country-wide celebration of Yom Ha'atzma'ut, Independence Day. Young adults—single and married—will have an opportunity to have their own bus with an itinerary geared to their interests. In addition to round-trip airfare, the trip includes accommodations at five-star hotels, most dinners and lunches and Israeli breakfasts, taxes and transfers, sightseeing in air-condi- tioned buses with Israeli tour guides and entertainment by Israeli perform- ers. Young Parents Cooking Lesson Young parents will get a Shabbat cook- ing lesson 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at a Rekindling Shabbat gathering in a private home. Volunteers For Pet-A-Pet Pet-A-Pet is an animal visitation pro- gram with volunteers with pets who visit nursing homes, hospital rehabilita- tion programs, hospices, and children who are abused or developmentally dis- abled.
