Jerusaelm (JPFS) — Am Hofshi, an
organization advocating the rights of the
secular, petitioned the High Court of
Justice against Likud presidential candi-
date and Migdal Ha'emek Mayor Shaul
Amor, regarding a bylaw that bans the
sale of pork in his city.
Their attorney, Yossi Arnon, alleged
that the three-month-old bylaw was
politically motivated, and that Amor
agreed to pass it in an effort to woo
Orthodox voters.
Am Hofshi has asked that Migdal
Ha'emek be ordered to explain why it
does not cancel the bylaw. It has also
urged the court to issue a temporary
order suspending the legislation.
