He was an accomplished blues harp player and drummer, had an orchestra in Detroit and taught Mel Ball how to play vibes. He was a founder of Plum Street in Detroit, was the highest collector for the Royal Oak Lions White Cane Week and was the only blind candle maker in Detroit. He also sat on the Royal Oak Mayor's Commission when the Dis- abilities Act was studied.
