NEW ENTERTAINMENT sched-
ule at Excalibur, Franklin and North-
western Highway, now has Endeavor
on Friday and Saturday evenings ...
The Billy Rose Quartet plays Tuesday
through Thursday nights.
"AND NOW, direct from the
Broadway stage, here's Stephen Dubov,
who'll sing an aria in Italian for all you
lovely people."
Sounds like it could be an intro-
duction at Temple Beth El's "A Night
In Italy," Sunday, March 8, 6:30 p.m.,
as Cantor Steve Dubov, along with
vocalists Marsha Rofel, Dan Singer,
Elsee Inselman and Curt Peters, will
be featured in the fun evening.
Price of $22 per person includes
Italian food and Italian wine, with
Temple Beth El's Rabbi David Cas-
tiglione hosting the show ... For
tickets, call the Temple office,
(248) 865-0616.
NEW NITERY and small bites sit-
down dining spot owned by David
Katzman, Illusion's Bar & Grill,
Fourth Street next to the Royal Oak
Theater, had its recent jam-packed
grand opening with the versatile
Simone Vitale band playing music for
listening and dancing.
As the name implies, a lot of fun
stuff for the customers as resident
entertainment coordinator and magi-
cian Dan Fishman had card tricksters
and others giving out with much star-
tled ohs and ahs.
NOW COMES a rice pudding
without eggs by George Stefanakis at
his Greek Islands restaurant on 10
Mile and Greenfield in Southfield ...
You can hardly tell the difference.
ALTHOUGH CLOSED recently
after operating at the same locale since
1976, Maude's restaurant in Ann
Arbor will return March 4 as Arriba, a
Mexican restaurant.
OPENING SOON will be the Red
Hot & Blue restaurant on Southfield,
north of 12 Mile, in the Commons
Mall ... It'll be on the former site of A
W Root Beer ... majoring in Mem-
phis pit barbecue, with meat smoked
on the premises.
FOLKS DINING at Big Daddy's
Parthenon, Orchard Lake Road, who
have tall, friendly waitperson Chris
Dion serving them, can at the same
time arrange to have their home or
whatever painted ... He is among
those top servers bringing the excellent
traditional Greek dishes ... and also
moonlights as a painter. ❑
