GERTRUDE BERNSTEIN, 90, of
Southfield, died Feb. 13. Ms.
Bernstein was a teacher for Detroit
Public Schools.
She is survived by her nieces and
nephews, Marilyn Cherney, Robert
and Julie Bernstein, Luanne and Greg
Worthington, Randee Bernstein,
Karen Bernstein, Alvin Wolfe; great-
nieces and great-nephews. Ms.
Bernstein was the loving aunt of the
late Richard Bernstein.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.

VICTOR BLOOMFIELD, 89, of
Ann Arbor, died Feb. 12. Mr.
Bloomfield was a teacher. He was a
past president of the Anti-Defamation
League, a past president of Pisgah
Lodge of B'nai B'rith and a charter
member of Temple Israel.
He is survived by his daughters and

ple, always remembered to ask how is
this one, how are you doing, how is
your mother, how is your daughter,

Earlier this week, Ellis spoke with
an uncle who referred to her father as
"a gentle scholar. He was a scholar in
Talmud, in Jewish learning and in
modern Hebrew literature. He had a
lifelong love of the Hebrew language.
Even in the hospital last week, his
greatest pleasure was when Rabbi
[Herbert] Yoskowitz came in to see
him, and they spoke in Hebrew," Ellis
said.
Rabbi Gorrelick is survived by his
daughter and son-in-law, Elisheva and
Howard Ellis; sister, Nettie Beer of
Manhattan, N.Y.; grandchildren,
Perry (Shelly) Ellis, Avery (Susan)
Ellis, Adam Ellis. He was the beloved
husband of the late Sarah Gorrelick.
Graveside services were held in Long
Island, N.Y. A memorial service will
be held at Congregation Beth Achim
at a later date; call Dorfman Funeral
