Shabbat Program:
Detroit Change

Jewish neighborhood change in Detroit
from 1927 to 1967 will be the focus of
a Shabbat program jointly sponsored
by Congregation T'chiyah and the
Grosse Pointe Jewish Council 8 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 27, at T'chiyah's down-
town location, the Wayne County
Medical Society Building, 1010
Antietam, near 1-375 and Gratiot. The
program will feature Thomas J. Sugrue,
assistant professor of urban history at
the University of Pennsylvania.
People interested in attending the
lecture and services, which will be fol-
lowed by a kiddush, are requested to

Beth Shalom
Special Shabbat

Congregation Beth Shalom will observe
Saturday, Feb. 21, as Hebrew Free Loan
Shabbat. The guest speaker will be
Ruth Marcus, the executive director of
HFL and a Beth Shalom member.
Hebrew Free Loan was established
to implement the important principle
from the Torah of not charging interest
to fellow Jews in need.

BAHM Plans
Lunch, Learn

Congregation Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses will hold a Shabbat lunch and
learn after services on Saturday, Feb.
28.
Rabbi Bergman's topic will be "A
Loving Look at Jewish Humor." Call

lunch reservations. Adults $7; children
5-13 $4; children under the age of five
are free of charge.

Purim Comes
To Beth Achim

Purim will be celebrated at
Congregation Beth Achim with a
Purim dinner and play, the reading of
the megillah and a Purim carnival 6
p.m. Sunday, March 8. There is a
charge for the dinner.
The Megillah Ester will be read on
Wednesday evening, March 11. The
Beth Achim Youth Department will
sponsor a Purim carnival noon - 3 p.m.
Sunday, March 15. Refreshments will
be available.
