T hey came. They saw. They discovered. More than 300 people recently attended the Aish HaTorah Discovery seminar held at Tam O'Shanter Coun- try Club. Rabbi Noah Weinberg, dean and founder of Aish HaTorah, was the guest speaker. . Before the discovery seminar, about 100 patrons attended a brunch with Rabbi Weinberg. Jack and Charlene Wolfe hosted the private reception. "We met [the local Aish HaTorah directOr] Alon Tolwin about 2 years ago," explained Charlene. "We wanted to study the mystical meaning of Judaism," she added. Jack and Charlene Wolfe hosted a private reception before the Discovery seminar. Today, many people like the Wolfes are active members of Aish HaTorah. A major goal of Aish HaTorah is to pre- sent the beauty, relevance and meaning of Judaism and Israel to Jewish people, whether they are observant or not. Rabbi Weinberg spoke briefly at the luncheon about knowing oneself. "The most fascinating human being is your- self. Sit down and interview yourself," suggested Rabbi Weinberg. He then discussed how knowing what you want can get you where you want to be. After a few questions and answers, the Discovery seminar began. The Discovery seminar examines the Bible and pulls out "codes" or sequences of letters that make up words and foretell events. Andy Jacob, Vivienne Feigelman, Amy Margolis, Leah Gella Tolwin, Richard Moperoft, Michael Marcus and Sussman Sykes Advertising were instrumental in organizing the seminar presented by World Wide Financial. YESHNAT SHNALVTM The first annual reception of Detroit Friends of Yeshivat Sha'alvim will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at the home of Elana and Max Berlin. Rabbi Jonathan Rosenblatt of Riverdale Jew- ish Center is the guest speaker. Shialvim is an educational commu- nity in Israel that combines military training and Torah studies.
