USY will host a Pray 'N' Play 10:30
a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Laker
Complex (Walnut Lake at Inkster
Road). Shabbat services will be fol-
lowed by lunch, basketball and
shmoozing. There is no cost and this
event is open to all USYers in Michi-
gan. Volunteers are needed to lead ser-

Purim Study
On Two Nights
Community educator Ruth Bergman
will lead an adult Jewish study series
in honor of the upcoming holiday of
Purim on two Wednesday nights,
6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 25 and March 4, at
Hillel Day School, sponsored by Eilu
v' Eilu, the adult Jewish education
project of Congregations Beth Abra-
ham Hillel Moses, Beth Shalom, and
B'nai Moshe, Hillel Day School and
Women's League for Conservative
Judaism-Michigan Branch.
Tuition for members of the sponsor-
ing organizations is $14 for the series
or $7 per session. Tuition for others is
$20 for the series or $10 per session.
Session 1 (on Feb. 25) will focus on
"Finding God in the Book of Esther."
This session will explore the hidden
nature of God in the Purim story and
compare it to other biblical episodes
that make no mention of God. Session
2 (on March 4) will discuss "Who Is
The Real Hero of the Purim Story?"
The series is open to all interested
adult learners, regardless of affiliation,
background, or level of Jewish educa-
tion. No knowledge of Hebrew is

Boy Scout
Troop Forms
A troop of Boy Scouts of America will
form at Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses. All boys between the
ages of 11 and 18 years are welcome.
The program is geared toward out-
door skills, citizenship and personal
growth. Shabbas and kashrut will be
observed. Full parental participation
is encouraged.
The first meeting will be held 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the synagogue
and will meet weekly thereafter. The
troop is open to the public and refresh-

Support Group
Hosts Discussion
The Stars of David, an international
support, social and educational group
for Jewish adoptive families, will host
a discussion group about identity and
self esteem in adopted children and
adoptive families 7 p.m. Wednesday,
Feb. 25, at the Applebaum Parenting
Center in West Bloomfield.
There is no charge for this pro-
gram, and it is open to adoptive par-
ents of any age child and prospective

Lunch, Learn
Ohr Somayach Detroit and Zionist
Organization of America - Detroit will
co-sponsor a lunch and learn with
Rabbi Mordechai Becher 12:30-1:30
p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Max M.
Fisher Jewish Federation Building on
"Israel ox Palestine - The Jewish
Claim." Rabbi Becher is an author and
scholar who is known for his expertise
in the fields of philosophy, compara-
tive religion and Jewish history.
