Local Cantor
Is Honored

At a special convocation Wednesday,
Feb. 25, the Jewish Theological Semi-
nary of America will award to Congre-
gation B'nai Moshe Cantor Louis
Klein the honorary degree of doctor of
music honoris causa.
Presenting Cantor Klein this
honor will be JTS-trained Rabbi Joel
Roth, originally of Oak Park, and a
long-time B'nai Moshe family mem-
ber.
Cantor Klein, recently retired, was
named cantor emeritus. For years, he
trained, taught and inspired hundreds
of bar and bat mitzvah children, stu-
dents of prayer and cantoral music,
and lovers of Jewish and religious
music.
Cantor Klein had the honor of
membership on the executive council
of the Cantors Assembly of America;
membership on the editorial board of
the Journal of Synagogue Music; he
holds an honorary fellow degree on
the Cantor's Institute of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of America.
