Each of its 14 chapters will focus
on a different segment of Jewish living
to help lifelong residents and newcom-
ers alike connect to the Jewish com-
munity. Highlights will include an
overview of Detroit's Jewish history,
religious congregations and organiza-
tions, a how-to guide for holiday and
lifecycle celebrations, plus educational
opportunities and activities for every
‘f;eneration from children to senior cit-
izens. Businesses also will have the
opportunity to advertise in the JN
SourceBook, which is scheduled for
publication in September 1998.
JN SourceBook will be updated
annually and will be available to each
Jewish News subscriber, Jewish agencies
and at local bookstores.
"It's exciting and invigorating
• working on this project," said Field.
"IN SourceBook has the ability to
reach out to so many people and
help them connect to Detroit's
vibrant Jewish community." Field,
who began her freelance writing
career 15 years ago at The Jewish
News, is also the family entertain-
ment columnist for the Detroit News
and hosts a "Kids Catalog" segment
on WJR-AM 760 at 7:40 a.m. Satur-
day mornings.
A third-generation metro Detroiter,
Field serves on the board of Congrega-
tion B'nai Moshe and served as a
board member for nine years at Hillel
Day School. She resides with her fami-
ly in West Bloomfield.
"Ellyce brings a wealth of experi-
ence to this special project," said Hot-
witz. "She will make an ideal tour
guide for our readers, pointing out
every landmark, location and lifestyle-
related service within the Jewish com-
munity."
Individuals or businesses that
would like additional information
about the JN SourceBook can contact
Field by phone at (248) 354-6060,
ext. 500, or by mail at The Jewish
News, 27676 Franklin Road, South-
field, MI 48034.
