Bible Bike Ride

New York — The first internation-
al ORT "Navigating the Bible Bike
Ride" is scheduled for Oct. 24 -
Nov. 1 in Israel.
A program of the World ORT
Union, the bike tour is named for
ORT's innovative new interactive
multimedia computer project
"Navigating the Bible," that teaches
users to chant any Torah or
Haftorah portion.
Open to riders from throughout'
the world, the bike ride is being
cosponsored in the United States
by American ORT and Women's
American ORT.

. The trip will take participants
through some of the most beautiful
landscapes and nature preserves in
Israel. After visiting Masada and
Ein Gedi, riders will go from Arad
to the famed Nabatean ruins of
Avdat, through the wilderness of
Zin to Mitzpe Ramon, the Ramon
Crater, Yahel and Timna Park,
scene of King Solomon's copper
mines. The trip ends with a visit to
Jerusalem.
For those who prefer to hike, a
special route is being planned in
the same area with transport to
bring hikers and bikers together
every evening.
The trip also will include visits
to three of ORT's "Best Hope"
schools in Arad, Yerucham and
Jerusalem.
To be a part of the tour, partici-
pants must commit to raise a mini-
mum of $3,500 in sponsored dona-
tions, plus a $450 deposit, refund-
able only up to 30 days from
receipt. The whole fee will be
refunded if the participant raises
over $4,000 in sponsorships. In
addition, each is responsible for
making his own air arrangements
to and from Israel. The tour
includes accommodations, meals
and the provision and maintenance
of the bicycles.
