A COMPELLING DRAMA... He is a great artist. His art is pure, but is he... ...if his clamorous audience is the Nazi regime? with the Jewish holidays," he said. "You can almost assure yourself that the broadcasting from the [former WQRS position on the dial] will not feature Jewish holiday music. "It is hard to imagine Nine Inch Nails singing about Pesach," he said. Those leading the efforts to restore local classical music broadcasting say the Jewish community has been very supportive thus far. Gloff, a Protestant Christian with no formal affiliation, said he has been surrounded at Temple Emanu-El's Oneg Shabbat with people offering to do what they can. "They ask what they can do and they do it," Gloff said. "Everyone has been so amazing. I can't get over it. Stoddard, raised-Greek Orthodox and now a member of the Pine Hill Congregational Church, said she recently received a petition from a group of congregants from Congregation Shaarey Zedek as well as numerous letters from other Jewish individuals. One letter of support was addressed to "Mitzvah Stoddard," an honest mistake she nonetheless takes as high praise. "I was very honored that my name was changed in that way," she said, laughing. Gloff and Stoddard said the across- the-board support may lead to the restoration of classical music broad- casting in Detroit. Stoddard would not release details but said an announcement on the matter is expected within the next few weeks. "We are all hoping for the best," she said. 0 ROBERT GROSSMAN " "Detroit Needs Classical Radio" bumper stickers are available at Harmony House Classical, 2412 N.
