He attended Detroit University School (now University Liggett), was a member of the University of Michigan diving team and continued studies at University of Indiana Business School. Mr. Bielfield learned to fly in the Civil Air Corps and volunteered to serve in the United States Navy as a naval avia- tor; he was stationed throughout the Pacific from 1940-45. He attained the rank of lieutenant senior grade. After World War II, Mr. Bielfield returned to Detroit where he worked for his father at Bielfield Tire. Then he went into the brokerage business beginning with Merrill Lynch, then working at White-Weld, E.F. Hutton and finally at Prudential Securities where he was a senior vice president. Mr. Bielfield -its a longtime member of the Detroit Polo Club, the Detroit Tennis Club and Franklin Hills Country Club. Mr. Bielfield is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Cheri Bielfield of West Bloomfield, Laurence Bielfield of Aspen, Colo.; grandchildren, Hunter and Jacob Bielfield; longtime friend, Kathleen Dalton.
