Deal Signed
With Portugal

Jerusalem (JPFS) — Communications
Minister Limor Livnat signed a memo-
randum of understanding with
Portugal for cooperation in the fields of
telecommunications and mail services.
The agreement will increase trade
with Israeli high-tech and communi-
cations companies and facilitate the
exchange of experts and of lessons
learned by each country about privati-
zation and liberalization of the com-
munications sector.
The ministers said both countries
participate in European R&D pro-
grams, and cooperation will allow
them to benefit more from EU pro-
grams. Livnat said she would try to
get a special budget so Israel will be
represented at the Expo '98 exhibition
in Portugal this year.
