Breakfast Club
Lecture Series

Sara Tugman Bais Chabad Torah
Center will offer a four-part lecture
series in February for women on the
laws of family purity. The hour-long
classes will be taught by Chaya Sarah
Silberberg at 8 p.m. on Monday
evenings at the Torah Center, 5595
West Maple Road, West Bloomfield.
The classes will include: Feb. 2, A
Philosophical Overview; Feb. 9,
Laws of Nida; Feb. 16, Laws of
Tevila (immersion); Feb. 23, A Little
Mathematics.
The class is appropriate for both
beginners and those who desire a
comprehensive review of the laws of
mikvah. It is open to all women free
of charge.

Dr. Kenneth Chelst of Wayne State
University will present a lecture series at
8:45 a.m. Sundays, at the Young Israel
of Oak Park, contrasting the experi-
ences of Israelite slaves in Egypt and
those of African Americans in the
United States. The lectures will offer
source materials useful and meaningful
to the celebration of the Passover holi-
days, which begin this year on April 11.
Topics covered will be: Feb. 8 -
Slave Experience: Political Slavery vs.
Personal Chattel; March 1 - Breaking
the Physical and Spiritual Bonds of
Slavery: Exodus vs. Emancipation;
March 29 - The Next 40 years: The
Ten Commandments vs. Jim Crow.
Laws: Manna vs. Sharecropping.
Breakfast will be served.
